Genesis 202
Lesson five
GENESIS 2:1-3

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

In this writer opinion, these verses should be included in chapter one. They conclude the creative works of God and, if taken literally, eliminates some wrong teachings that are out there.

First let us conclude a point that I have made several times. If you remember, God says in verse one, "in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth". I mentioned that in many versions of the Bible, this very first verse is incorrectly translated because "heaven" is wrongly translated as "heavens" (plural).  And then in verse eight, God puts a firmament in the heaven, and called this space heaven as well, thus, now, we have a second "heaven" being created. Now in chapter two verse one we correctly read "Thus the heavens (plural) and earth were finished". I only bring this up because almost all modern versions incorrectly translate the first verse of the Bible wrong. If you can't get the first verse right, how can we possibly trust any other verse being translated correctly? The KJV is one of the few that gets it right.

Secondly, this first verse in chapter two tells us that all the creation of heaven and earth, and all the "host" of "them" WERE FINISHED. What this is plainly telling us is that at the end of the sixth literal day of God's creation, everything was finished. All the heavenly host was done...there was to be no more creating. All of Earth and the host of Earth was finished as well, there was to be no more creating there. This suggest several things. First, the Woman was already created from the bone and flesh of the male: Not somewhere in the future as some believe. And, secondly, evolution was not involved in creation because evolution states that things are constantly being created, renewed, and transformed. God did the creation as He spoke things into existence from nothing on the literal day that the Bible says it happened.

Now we come to day seven. Verse three tells us that God blessed this seventh day and sanctified (set it apart) because it is on this day that God rested from "all" his creating work. Now this does not mean God took off twenty four hours and did nothing. What this word "rested" literally means is that He ceased, or stopped creating. On the seventh day God stop any further creating. He was done. We see this in verse two where God uses two specific words, "ended" and "rested".

The word "ended" literally means "to cease" and the word "rested" literally means "desist". God put out a "cease and desist" order on Himself. What does "cease and desist" mean? It means to stop what you are doing, and don't do it again. God stopped creating the World as we know it, and He is not going to do any more creating. He is done. This should put to rest the false doctrines of evolution, and that the days of creation were anything other then 24 hour periods of time.

Answer the questions below.  If you miss a question, go back and study that portion of the class and then retake the test.  Once you have received a 100% you may proceed to the next class.  You DO NOT have to submit this test for grading.  Only the final test will be submitted.
